BAA will have to break up its network of airports after a court rejected on Thursday its bid to challenge a sale order by the competition watchdog.
In March 2009, the Competition Commission ordered BAA to sell London's Stansted Airport and either Glasgow or Edinburgh airports in Scotland within two years.
The Ferrovial-owned company successfully challenged this in the courts until October last year, when an appeals court reinstated the order.
BAA said it was "disappointed" by the Supreme Court's decision not to hear its appeal.
"The circumstances in which they found reason to force the sale of airports have changed significantly since early 2009 and should certainly be reviewed," a BAA spokesman said in a statement.
