Real Sociedad kept alive their dream of snatching a European place on Monday with a 1-0 home defeat of Mallorca, on a goal from former Spain striker Raul Tamudo.
The tight win takes the San Sebastian side up to joint seventh, level on 34 points with Sevilla. Mallorca, for their part, stay in 11th place with 31 points.
The only goal in Aoeta came 10 minutes into the second half. Xabi Prieto released Dani Estrada down the right, and Estrada's near-post centre was cleverly headed in by Tamudo.
Tamudo, 33, has been Sociedad's main weapon this season after finally leaving Espanyol last summer.
Tamudo, Prieto and Mikel Aranburu came close to giving the hosts a second goal towards the end, as dull Mallorca gradually ran out of ideas and energy.
