Guernsey's Watson, 18, saw off world number 87 Andrea Hlavackova on Sunday, beating her Czech opponent 6-3 7-5.
The world number 145 will now face either fellow qualifier Stephanie Foretz Gacon of France who upset Belarussian fifth seed Olga Govortsova 6-3 4-6 6-4.
Watson beat America's Ashley Murdock and Portugal's Michelle Larcher de Brito in straight sets in qualifying.
Top seed Barbora Zahlavova Strycova of the Czech Republic make an early exit on Monday, beaten 6-1 6-3 Michaella Krajicek of the Netherlands.
