She would have gotten away with it -- if it wasn't for those meddling doors.
Law enforcement officials in Michigan say they were able to lock up a 400-pound shoplifter after her motorized cart got stuck in a department store's doors.
Jerrie Perkins, 30, is accused of loading up her motorized cart with about $600 of electronics and attempting to steer her way out of a Meijer store in Rochester Hills around 9:20 p.m. Feb. 8
But before the suspect could make her getaway, she reportedly set off a security alarm and got stuck in the doorway.
When Meijer employees asked Perkins to show receipts for the goods in her cart, the suspect allegedly pushed a "loss prevention officer" and slugged her in the face.
Police arrived on the scene, and a sheriff's deputy ordered Perkins to put her hands behind her back. But the suspect allegedly refused and instead "cursed at the deputy, balled her right hand into a fist and took a fighting stance," according to a press release circulated by the Oakland County Sheriff's Office.
The deputy subdued the suspect with a Taser. Perkins has been charged with unarmed robbery, resisting and obstructing a police officer, and retail fraud.
According to police, this isn't the first time that a perp has tried to turn a motorized cart into an escape vehicle.
In December, cops in Florida arrested a man accused of running over a child while trying to escape from a grocery store in a stolen motorized shopping cart loaded with meat.
