Portugal coach Paulo Bento says his side kept up with Argentina despite losing 2-1 this evening in Geneva.
Bento believes the match was good preparation for the Seleccao, as they look to qualify for Euro 2012.
"We must accept the result, although it's always hard to accept a loss," the tactician told after the match. "I think for the most part, we played well and were not inferior to Argentina.
"The press focus a lot on the wins and losses, but the most important thing is that we are on a journey of four games - two of which are Euro qualifiers - which will hopefully bring us back into the race to qualify.
"Argentina are a team that play similar to Spain, a nation that we overcame 4-0. I repeat we had a good game, but made some errors, which didn't happen against Spain."
Bento also explained why he substituted Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo in the second-half.
"We made three substitutions and one of them was Cristiano. This had to do with our game plan," he added.
"We know that certain players needed to be played for certain minutes. [Liverpool's Raul] Meireles came on because Cristiano had played a lot this season. We have to be able to manage the effort of players, and this is what happened," concluded Bento.
